The Must-Read Book Club
Brandee Ellis: I discovered this on a bookcase outside a local bookstore labeled 'free, take one or leave one'. I stumbled across it and it hasn't been far from my mind ever since. I dug it the first time I read it and I go back to it when I need a reminder.
YCNYC: Favorite quote?
BE: "Each of you can make your life a perfect work of art. Just as others write beautiful poetry, you can make your life such a work of art that everyone who sees it will be inspired."
YCNYC: What one person would you recommend this book to
BE: 'For people of a religious faith or none' ... someone who is curious about mantrams, how to use them for personal centering and growth; and also for that person looking for a way to develop a more positive approach to life.
YCNYC: What moment or part resonates with you the most?
BE: (Almost every page resonates with me!)
"Most of us live on the surface level of consciousness, our grasshopper minds jumping from one subject to another, one desire to another, one distraction to another. But as the mind is concentrated in meditation, we learn to extend our conscious control over successively deeper realms of consciousness... we realize that we are not limited by the confines of the body or mind or even of the ego; we discover for ourselves the source of abiding joy and infinite love that is our real nature."
