Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

with Marlie McGovern

at Bend and Bloom

May 12–14

Restorative yoga is a deep and effective practice of fully supported yoga postures that stimulate the parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system. This active relaxation results in a physiological and psychological quieting, which soothes the negative effects of chronic stress, and returns one’s system to balance.

Offering restorative yoga to others is a profound gift of compassion and healing. The recipient experiences the rare and precious opportunity to simply “be” in their bodies and minds, fully supported and relaxed, in the warm presence of a caring guide.

In this hands-on, experiential training, participants will learn the essential principles and practices of restorative yoga. Past trainees are using their restorative yoga skills in creative, impactful ways:

  • A UN representative working with obesity in Palau incorporated restorative yoga as a part of her social wellness initiative proposal.

  • A yoga teacher of incarcerated women learned simple, safe restorative techniques for use in a deeply challenging setting.

  • A nurse entrepreneur managing workers' comp rehabilitation cases brought restorative yoga to her harried nursing staff.

  • A physician and acupuncturist included restorative yoga among his toolkit in teaching Integrative Medicine.

  • A doula brought restorative yoga techniques into her work with women and families pre- and post-partum.

  • A design start-up entrepreneur devised a dynamic, office-friendly restorative yoga class for her colleagues.

This training is open to yoga teachers, caregivers, therapists, body workers, health care providers, social workers, and others seeking to learn stress reduction and relaxation techniques. Visit our site for more details.
