The Must-Read Book Club

Keely Garfield: I first studied with Richard Rosen as part of my Urban Zen Integrative Therapy training in 2009. Practically every page of my copy of his book is dogeared and drooled on! Binding is undone, pages topsy-turvy, and remarked on!

YCNYC: Favorite quote?

KG: "Try to anchor yourself in the stillness between and underneath the breaths."

YCNYC: What one person would you recommend this book to?

KG: Me! Read again...and again...and again...enough there for a lifetime of inquiry. A great resource for meditation too.

YCNC: What moment or part resonates with you the most?

KG: This book is a first-hand account of a master's extensive travels in what he calls, "The country of the Self". On this journey, naturally, we are encouraged to rest from time to time. Richard says that rest, is the goal of classical yoga. To me, this points to the possibility of resting in our true nature without being pushed or pulled. Just so.
