The Loveliest Hours
The loveliest times of day
are sunrise and the hour
before sundown, when
the last light leaps
across the valleys
from hilltop to hilltop,
bathing whatever it touches
in molten splendor
too beautiful to last.

but sparingly,
at the break of day
